Learning Plans
Our reports include both the findings of our assessment and a Learning Plan. Our clinicians develop this plan based on their understanding of a student’s Learning Profile and work with the student, the parents, and often the school to devise methods to help the child become a more productive learner. Ideally, all parties collaborate to create a practical action plan that can be implemented at home and in the classroom.
"...I am happy to report that after implementing several of your suggestions, we have observed significant success in many areas. Furthermore, [my son's] school is supportive of your recommendations, especially since they too have witnessed his progress."
Most Learning Plans include each of the following kinds of recommendations:
- Interventions at the Breakdown Points – Interventions involve children in activities specifically designed to strengthen an area of weakness.
- Accommodations – These bypass strategies help the student learn how to work around a weakness when necessary, so that he or she can experience success.
- Strengthening of Strengths – These are strategies that allow children to keep on using and improving the parts of their minds that work especially well for them.
- Affinity Development – This is a process intended to help children discover and deepen their natural interest in particular topics or subject areas (such as cars, horses, or nature).
In addition to these kinds of strategies, a Learning Plan might include recommendations for medication, tutoring, counseling, and suggestions for other additional services.
