Our assessments are different. Success in Mind provides unique services that foster a deep understanding of how each student learns and provides Learning Plans based on that understanding. Families often tell us it’s their first experience in which someone finally understood their child’s learning needs.
“People continue to tell me that they notice how well he is doing - he just seems so happy…I really feel quite emotional about the whole thing.”
- We identify strengths and affinities—not only weaknesses
Learning how to develop strengths and affinities is crucial to being successful in life—and to overcoming weaknesses. Our assessment can give your child the chance to begin the process of self-awareness, empowerment, and ownership of his or her learning. - We provide profiles, not labels
Traditional labels, such as dyslexia or ADHD, are not specific enough for understanding your child’s needs and can impose pre-conceived limitations on him or her. A Learning Profile is more specific and helps to pinpoint individual needs. - We are not limited by standard test scores
In our dynamic assessments, we are not only looking at what scores your child gets, but how he or she approaches different parts of learning and academics – that’s how we get the most useful information to help your child strategize. - We are truly interdisciplinary
Our teams of learning specialists, pediatricians, and psychologists collaborate as they work with your child, cultivating a deeper understanding of how he or she approaches learning. After each clinician works individually with your child, they meet to integrate their findings. Combined with the information that is provided by you as parents, the teachers, and your child, we can determine which specific brain functions are weak and strong. - Understanding is immediate
On the appointment day, you are able to observe the entire assessment, which provides insight and understanding needed to help your child. Next, in a process called demystification, you and your child will receive clear explanations of our findings. A clinician on the team explains your child’s strengths and weaknesses and how these affect learning in an empowering and respectful way, which allows your child to feel more self-confident. This process encourages students to learn more about their own learning, which enables them to be active participants in finding solutions to their challenges and to building their strengths. - We provide ongoing support
Learning issues are complicated and change over time. We are here as a resource for families and schools to help implement Learning Plans and to change the plans as your child develops.
