Success in Mind utilizes the groundbreaking framework developed by renowned pediatrician, Dr. Mel Levine, to deliver Learning Profiles, Learning Plans, and ongoing care to students in first grade through college. Center for Student Success, the parent organization of Success in Mind, also uses this neurodevelopmental framework to educate parents and clinicians.
[Our son] just finished sixth grade with all A's and B's which he accomplished completely on his own… We feel very fortunate to have such an outstanding facility in our community and are pleased to know that it is here to help other children in need of your outstanding services.
Our mission - to provide students, families, teachers, and others involved in a student’s education with a deep understanding and a common language that demystifies learning, values individual learning differences, and promotes success for each learner.
How We Help
We are committed to helping you understand why your child is struggling and will work with you to create a plan for a successful future.
Our individualized student assessment is conducted by an experienced team of learning specialists and neurodevelopmentalists (pediatricians or psychologists). By not limiting ourselves to the use of standardized tests, our assessment is highly dynamic and individualized, and allows us to look carefully at each of the functions of the brain that affect the way each student learns. We then integrate our findings with detailed feedback from teachers, parents, and the student to create a customized Learning Profile of strengths, weaknesses, and affinities. From this, flows an individualized Learning Plan that strengthens strengths, nurtures affinities, and addresses specific breakdown points in learning.
At the end of the assessment day, in an empowering and respectful process called demystification, a clinician meets with the student and the parents to provide clear explanations of our findings. The linkages between the student’s neurodevelopmental profile and academic performance are presented allowing the student to appreciate his/her strengths and feel confident that areas of challenge can be addressed.
After the assessment day, a report is provided that details the student’s Learning Profile and Learning Plan. We encourage all families to participate in a Report Consultation to help them feel confident about applying the newfound understandings at home and/or in the classroom. If desired, a conference call with the student’s teacher(s) and/or tutor(s) can also take place to review the profile and to define the next steps for implementing the Learning Plan in school.
