History
In 1999, the All Kinds of Minds® Institute launched its Student Success Program™ to provide comprehensive learning assessments to students and their families. As the Chief Clinical Officer for the Student Success Program™, Dr. Beth Briere worked with Dr. Mel Levine and their colleagues at All Kinds of Minds to develop the non-labeling assessment model that is now used at Success in Mind. This model incorporates medical, psychological, and educational research to deliver an assessment that is able to pinpoint specific breakdown points in learning. It is continually refined to reflect developments in brain-based research and education.
From 1999-2006, the Student Success Program helped over 4,000 struggling students discover their strengths, identify their specific challenges, and develop strategies to address their learning difficulties. After many years of program development and refinement, Drs. Levine and Briere agreed that the Student Success Program™ was ready for independent operation. In February 2007, Success in Mind was established as an independent nonprofit organization.
Based in Durham, North Carolina, Success in Mind continues to collaborate with colleagues across the country that use a strengths-based, neurodevelopmental approach to understanding learning. This offers an exciting opportunity for Success in Mind to continually evolve their services for students who are deprived of success because of their own “wiring.”
